Vito Sports has confirmed that the Melbourne Renegades will be hosting Bettsolisoli x Sports, a $1.5 million pay-per-view, pay-out tournament on January 10 at the Melbourne Sports Arena.
The event, featuring a field of 30 Australian athletes, will be headlined by Australian Olympian and former world record holder Vito Sovolio and his wife, Victoria, and former NRL star James Craig.
The Renegades have been one of the best-performing NRL sides this season, winning a series of matches at home, with a 10-point lead at the top of the table at the end of the month.
Bettsoli, who is part of the World Series of Poker Series, is also one of Australia’s most successful poker players, winning the prestigious $1 million in poker.
Betty Buckley, Vito’s wife, said she was excited to be attending Bettsolesi, which will be her first tournament outside of Australia.
“This is the first time we’ve been able to do a pay-show event in Australia, so we’re very happy,” Buckley said.
“I think it’s going to be a really good show for the sport, for the country and hopefully the world.”
The Renegade squad includes Australian and New Zealand-born stars such as Australian Rugby League star Andrew Fifita, Australian rugby league greats Michael Morgan and Jamie Lyon, Australian Olympic champion Michael Chipperfield, and veteran NRL and Australian Sevens stars Robbie Farah and Jamie Johnston.
Betting information will be available on the Renegades website.
