Naby Keita has been fined £10,000 for stamping a player’s arm

Naby Kepu, who had played just six games for the Sydney Roosters, will miss the first three games of the season because of a minor groin injury.

Kepu suffered the injury during the opening quarter of the Roostingers’ match against North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night.

It is the second injury for Keita this season, after he was ruled out for six weeks for the Bulldogs.

Keita will miss a total of nine matches.

The former Newcastle Rooster was named as an extra man in the match against the Cowboys, having missed the previous game with a groin injury, but played the remaining two quarters.

The NRL will assess Keita’s position when he returns from suspension in the coming weeks.
