The Rams are one game out of the playoffs and the quarterback they drafted in the second round is coming off his first playoff game.
Goff’s career is in limbo as he waits to see if his team’s rookie camp will go well.
But he’ll be back on the field next week when the Rams host the Seattle Seahawks.
Goff threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter, but the Rams’ offense came up short.
Goff was pressured twice on the play.
He was sacked twice, and the Seahawks had two sacks.
Goff made his first throw of the game with a 20-yard pass to tight end Cameron Brate.
But Seattle’s defense forced Goff into a risky throw, giving him the ball with 11 seconds left in the game.
With the clock running out, Brate was open underneath the coverage of cornerback Brandon Browner and safety Kam Chancellor.
Brate took the ball over the middle, and Goff had to throw short.
It was a difficult throw, but Goff completed the pass over the first down marker to help the Rams get within 17-10.
It wasn’t a bad throw by Goff.
But his arm strength and decision making were in question.
Goff had a bad day.
He struggled to read his coverages and made a poor decision when it mattered most, when the ball was in his hands.
He failed to connect on any deep passes, and he was pressured nine times.
Goff completed just 13 of his 21 passes for 103 yards.
Goff will need to find a way to throw better this week.
He also had a poor day against the Broncos.
The Rams played their first exhibition game against the Chargers on Sunday, but they’ve already been to the Super Bowl.
Goff and his receivers struggled to get open.
Goff struggled to make plays on deep passes and was sacked three times.
He had a couple of good throws, but he also dropped a couple in the pocket.
The Broncos were more physical and aggressive than Goff, which contributed to his struggles.
Goff wasn’t good in the red zone, as the Rams had only one red-zone touchdown, and it came in the third quarter when they were in the lead.
He didn’t have a great game.
He completed only eight of 19 passes for 113 yards, and threw two interceptions.
Goff is a very young quarterback and he will need a lot of work to get to the level he wants to be.
The last time Goff played the Rams, the team went 2-3.
Goff hasn’t played in a game since, so the Rams will have to find some help in the offensive line.
The team has added guards Matt Tobin and Jared Payne to the starting lineup, and Tobin has worked his way into the rotation.
Payne has been a solid backup, but it’s unclear if he will see a significant role this week or not.
Goff, who has never started a game for the Rams before, has never been to a playoff game with the Rams.
He has only played in three playoff games since joining the team in 2015.
