LAS VEGAS — A woman has spent nearly $50,000 on her own flight from Las Vegas to Las Vegas for the same reason she went to the movies: to attend the premiere of the new Star Wars movie.
The woman, who is not being named for privacy reasons, was supposed to fly from her home in New York City to the Hollywood premiere on Tuesday, but her flight was delayed because of a lack of airline service, according to a post on her GoFundMe page.
The man who originally flew her to Vegas said she was going to go to a concert with him at the Palms hotel but didn’t make it.
The man said she had a medical emergency, and that’s why she decided to use the extra money to fly herself to Las.
A few hours later, the woman arrived at the MGM Grand, where she had been scheduled to meet with friends and family.
She was wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans, and her hair was messy, according a photo posted by her Go Fund Me page.
The post has since been deleted.
“I have been trying for the past few months to get the movie to come to my house,” the woman wrote.
“I had to wait for a few hours until someone in the theater came to pick up my flight, and then the plane was delayed for a little bit.
When I finally got my flight back, I was greeted by the cast and crew and we all got to go see the movie.”
The woman’s Go Fund Us page said she needed the money for surgery to fix her aortic valve.
She said she didn’t want to use any money to pay for a hotel stay, because she had no hotel room.
She said she’s now waiting to see if she can make it to the premiere.
